Endovenus Laser Therapy
What is ELT?
Endovenous laser treatment (ELT, or sometimes referred to as EVLT) requires no hospitalization and no complicated surgery and it is a quick, minimally invasive laser treatment .
The whole entire procedure from beginning to end takes about one hour and there is very little to no pain .Most insurance plans and Medicare covers treating varicose veins with endovenous laser treatment .That’s the another advantage of advanced technology in ELT.
How does it work ?
In ELT procedure, under ultrasound guidance a a small optic fiber is inserted through a needle into the varicose vein. Then slowly optic fiber is removed from vein after laser is activated , it heats and closes the vein .After the vein is closed, the blood circulation is naturally re-routed through other healthy veins. After sometime, the closed veins are absorbed by the body .
We explain patients that ELT cannot treat veins that are too small , too twisted, or too close to the surface of the skin. And so that ELT patient will require a sclerotherapy treatment in conjunction with ELT to treat smaller veins as well .
